Shefik Osman is a highly regarded mental health solicitor having practiced in this field since 2009 and a member of the Law Society’s Mental Health Panel Accreditation Scheme since August 2012. He was a Partner and Head of Mental Health Department for TV Edwards LLP for a number of years before leaving to become a consultant solicitor.

Shefik has extensive experience of representing individuals in respect of all aspects of the Mental Health Act. This has included representation before the First-Tier Tribunal, Manager’s hearings, Nearest Relative displacement applications, aftercare arrangements and complex forensic cases. He has challenged decisions in cases from the First-Tier Tribunal to the Upper-Tier Tribunal. He is a well-respected advocate who works tirelessly for the benefit of his clients. He has a keen interest in ensuring quality representation for those facing mental health law issues.

Shefik has been actively involved with a number of mental health charities which has included taking part in fund raising events. In addition, he is a Committee Member of the Mental Health Lawyers Association (MHLA) and currently holds the position of Treasurer. In the past he has also held the post of Head of Education and Training sub-committee with the MHLA. Shefik has assisted with formal responses to consultation papers on suggested changes to mental health law in the UK as well as assisting with creating training materials and the delivery of external training to other professionals on the Mental Health Act.

Shefik has represented both individuals and organisations on mental health law matters in both legally aided and privately paid cases. He is a confident and capable solicitor who will fearlessly represent his clients to the highest of standards.
