Lei Thu

Trainee Solicitor

Lei is a Trainee Solicitor in our Mental Health Department. With experience spanning both mental health services and mental health law, she brings a unique perspective to supporting individuals receiving care under the Mental Health Act 1983.

Before entering the legal profession, Lei worked across a range of mental health settings, including inpatient services for children and adolescents, adult community mental health services and Mental Health Act administration. These roles provided her with valuable insight into the practical operation of mental health services and the challenges faced by individuals receiving mental health care.

Prior to commencing her training contract, Lei worked as a Mental Health Paralegal, assisting clients with a wide range of mental health-related matters, including Mental Health Tribunals, Hospital Managers’ Hearings and concerns regarding care and treatment. Through this work, she gained experience in both civil and forensic mental health cases. Combined with her previous experience working within mental health services, this has given her a well-rounded understanding of the legal, clinical and practical challenges faced by individuals receiving mental health care.

Lei is passionate about ensuring that individuals receiving mental health care have their voices heard and their rights protected. Drawing on her experience in both healthcare and legal settings, she is committed to providing compassionate, client-focused support.
