
Aklema has extensive experience in assisting clients subject to the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended) including preparing for, advising and representing clients at CPA meetings, Hospital Managers Hearings and the First-tier Tribunal (Mental Health). She has a particular interest in representing clients who have a forensic history and has represented patients subject to all sections of the Act from high secure hospitals to the community.
Notable cases: VS v St Andrew’s Healthcare [2018] UKUT 250 (AAC) – whether a patient has capacity to make an application to the First-tier Tribunal (Mental Health).
